Located in the award-winning residential development, V by Crown Group, SKYE Suites Parramatta connects the past, present and future. During excavation, one of colonial Australia’s first buildings was unearthed and can still be seen today along with multiple historical artefacts. The dramatic three-storey “V” column structures on Macquarie Street were purpose-built to exhibit archaeological remnants below. At the Philip Ruddock V Heritage Centre visitors can now discover footings from an 1840s convict hut and period cottage, as well as cellar ruins from the Wheatsheaf Hotel (later renamed the Shepard Inn), one of the earliest remnants of an Australian hotel.
